Pastor or youth director who  did not necessarily attend a Lutheran college

Dear ___ [student name],

I’m writing today on behalf of the Lutheran Educational Conference of America (LECNA), as someone who is interested in connecting Lutheran high school students with LECNA’s member colleges & universities. As a church member, I have personally witnessed the incredible service and commitment of many Lutheran college grads in our community, and hope that I can help encourage a new generation of church leaders – official and unofficial – by spreading the word about some of these great institutions. Of course, many colleges & universities that are not affiliated with Lutheran churches do an excellent job of educating our students. I do think, however, that these schools are especially adept at cultivating strong ethical behavior and sense of service & vocation in their graduates, which are qualities that carry forward into our church community.

If you are willing, I would love to have you as a partner in this effort. As a LECNA Champion, I have volunteered to organize events at our church (like Lutheran College Sunday and informal roundtable discussions for students and parents), as well as publicize upcoming Lutheran College Fairs to our high school students. Will you help me spread the word and personally encourage students to consider a Lutheran college, if it seems like it might be a good fit for them? Your support will be invaluable, as many of our students and families turn to you for advice and guidance during periods of great transition, such as this exciting time of searching for the right college. You can find out more information at www.lutherancolleges.org, especially under the Champions and Our Colleges tabs. Please let me know your thoughts, and I look forward to working with you!
