At Wagner College we believe education is about connecting. Connected learning comes through linking multidisciplinary classes (learning communities), experiential learning, civic education and a strong focus on writing and communication. The Wagner Plan requires that each student take three learning communities. In the first semester the LC connects two required courses around a theme, adds a writing intensive Reflective Tutorial and includes three hours per week of community based fieldwork related to the courses. In the senior year a capstone LC in the major, includes 100 hours of fieldwork and a thesis/research project. The third LC is taken in the middle years and combines the major with core requirements. Our curriculum has been lauded by AAC&U, The Washington Center for Learning and Time Magazine among others. At Wagner students truly "learn by doing".
